Add EX495 to Existing LAN RRS feed

  • Question

  • Added an EX495 to my existing LAN.  Installed software, etc.
Now, cannot control my old Media Server from the console.
Is there anyway to set the two servers up on one LAN and
then "toggle" back and forth to control them.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

  • If your question is "Can I have a home computer joined to two Windows Home Server machines at the same time?" then the answer is no. A client computer can only be joined to a single server. You can switch between your servers on a client computer by running C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server\Discovery.exe , which is the tool that the connector uses to connect initially to a server, but that will switch all Windows Home Server functions (including backups) to the new server.

There's a suggestion on Connect here to allow some sort of multi-server connection. You may want to take a look, and vote if you agree that this is a feature the product should have.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
