Not Getting Alerts for Subscribed Posts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am not getting alerts for last couple of days for the subscribed posts on the forums.

I have my email id configured in "My Settings" section under "Configure Alerts" section

I was getting the alerts couple of months back but i stopped getting them anymore. I tried to "Cancel" and re-enter my email id in "Configure Alerts" section in My settings but i am not getting any email for alert subscription link as well.

    My emailid is - shaileshkawade@rediffmail.com

Can someone please help me on this issue.

  • We had some problems with alerts today. But it was cleared up quickly. Have you checked your junk mail folder? What email server/client are you using?

Did you get an alert for this one?

Could you also check your settings in case your info was cleared out? Thanks!

  • Hi Ed,

I did not get alert for above thread. i am coming here regularly to check the status of my query.

Below the configuration Alert settings under My settings section.

You cannot receive email alerts until you verify the confirmation email recently sent to 'shaileshkawade@rediffmail.com'. (Resend) (Cancel)

But i never got the confirmation mail. I tried to cancel and re-submit my email address but no luck.

    Somehow my alerts are stopped.

  • Doesn't work if you drill in via technet page but if you start on msdn page, come over and reply, then it DOES alert.

  • The OP seems to have a different problem - he can not confirm the e-mail address for alerts.

  • You should check your junk mail folder. We have had to switch our email sending servers back and forth and some of them don't set all the right email stuff (IP safe list etc).. So it is possible confirmation emails are in being filtered by your email server/client as junk. We are working on the SMPT server issues, not sure when it'll be fixed though.

Two other things. Try clicking the "Alert me" button (if it's not checked).

Go into your "My Settings" on the right and make sure the alerts are turned on and that your email address is correct (and that one is in there).

There have been times that the forum updates have randomly reset those alert settings.

    Thanks!

Shailesh - you should not have marked this as answered.  As you have pointed out teh problem just went away.

This has been an ongoing problem. It happens less frequesntly now than it did a year ago but still happens at least once a week.  Re-entering the alert preferences has liitle or no affect.

At times the alerts come immediately - within a coule of minutes - and at time they come in burst every 4 o 10 hours.  At times the alerts don't come at all.

I know that the site suport people have been attempting to remedy this but it has not been fixed since the previous version of teh forum software was instaleld.  It continues to be a problem with the new software upgrade.

Ed - Perhaps you could do some investigating ang et an ETA for this to be addressed.  It is extremely annoying to everyone.

I agree that it has come and gone. It will likely come back. However, it's a different problem/issue each time, and so each time it needs to be addressed for the specific symptoms and causes at hand.
