WHS 2011 Remote Music Playback Not Functioning - "Black Window" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

Hoping to get some guidance on how to fix this
issue.  I have WHS 2011 running on a WHS Acer chassis.  I am attempting
to stream my music through the Remote Web Access interface.  I have not
been able to do this successfully.  When I choose a song or album or
artist to play, a separate window will pop up, Silverlight will begin to
load the interface, then the window will go completely black and
    nothing will happen.

What is interesting is that I've tried this...

...(at least the part about the renaming of my database file, as that is all that applied),
and when I restart the Network Sharing service, the RWA will
immediately begin to start working!  The interface loads, the music
streams, and the album art starts floating in the background, no
problem.  At some point over the following 10 minutes or so (as that
database file is rebuilding), I will lose the functionality.  If I pause
the music, closing the window, or do anything to upset what I already
have queued up, I will lose the functionality again (the playback in
that window will cease to function).  When I close that window and
attempt to relaunch it, I'm back to the Black Window of Silence.

have about 22,000 songs, equaling approximately 120GB or so (various
bit rates).  I've seen folks in the forums who say that much bigger
    collections work
just fine for them, so I'm a little mystified about what I'm doing

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • My suspicion is that you have a file with bad tags, or bad album art. Finding it is going to be a chore, though.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
