.aspx wrapper and remote file download RRS feed

  • Question

  • This has been bugging me and I need some help.

I use Free Download Manger http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/index.htm among other clients to download large files efficiently - the problem with this that I can't find a way around is that I download the .aspx file that is the wrapper for the actual file I want - any clues for how to work with this much appreciated.

    1) can you recommend a download client that handles the .aspx post action so that I get the actual file I want?

    2) is there a way to parse the .aspx and then pass it to the download client?

  • Yeah, it's a real pain, but what generally works for me is hitting Cancel when the download dialog pops up first time, then it seems to go on to download OK automatically. The exception is PDFs which I do have to dance with a bit - usually end up pressing view even though I really want to download them, but I then Save locally.
