Large Hard Drives RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just moved over a 500GB and a 300GB drive filled with data to a different computer. Both hard drives show up in windows as 128GB and unformatted. This is not the case

  • This forum is about Windows Home Server, so your question is off topic here (since you do not mention, that your disks are related to Windows Home Server).
This being said, the PC you moved the disks to is obiously an older system - those do often not support the larger disks (there have been a few of these size boarders in the past, 128 GB is one of them). Maybe a Bios update on this machine helps.
The only other reason would be a wrong set jumper on the disk itself, which makes it show up as 128 GByte disk against such old systems for compatibility reasons. But this would also have been active on the system, from which you moved the drives.
