Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine

Question
-
I've HP Laptop which I had bought in 2009. Suddenly from last month, I've started getting this error.
1. I've attached diag report below.
2. I tried running slui.exe 3 and provided the key which I had at the back of the laptop. However I got error code 0x800700C1
%1 isnot a valid Win32 Application
3. Then I tried running sfc /scannow. It ran till 7% and then gave an error, "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."
Not sure what's happening and how to fix them. I restored it back to 6 month old restore point, still facing the same error.

Your problem is the file mismatch highlighted above. Please run the following commands in an elevated command prompt windowDIR C:\Windows\sppobjs.* /sSFC /SCANFILE=C:\Windows\System32\sppobjs.dllICACLS C:\Windows\System32\sppobjs.dllcopy and paste the results in your response. Here are some instructions to make life easier :)1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the CP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Windows, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

It looks as if you may have had a virus infection that attacked this file and the master copy, and the AV has improperly repaired the files.Do you have access to another PC with Windows7 SP1 installed?
Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed SlothMonday, May 21, 2012 5:03 PMModerator -
I've access to another machine with Win 7 Enterprise SP1 if that will work.Tuesday, May 22, 2012 12:42 PM
-
Is it possible to re-install/repair the OS without loosing other data like documents and photos? I've the recovery CD.Tuesday, May 22, 2012 12:44 PM
-
Yes, Enterprise should work just as well - a repair install cannot be done with a Recovery disk (but you could download a retail SP1 Home Premium if necessary for that purpose)
Let's see if we can fix the problem without a reinstall.
Copy the file C:\Windows\system32\sppobjs.dll from the Enterprise install to your C: drive in a simple folder (C:\123 for example)
Reboot to the Recovery Environment ('Repair Your Computer' in the advanced boot menu, log in, and then choose the Command Prompt option)
At the command prompt, typeDIR D:\- if we're lucky this will bring up a listing of your normal C: drive
contents, including the Program Files folder(s) and the Windows folder. If not, try E:\ (etc. until you get the right letter)then type the following commands
Copy <drive>:\123\sppobjs.dll <drive>:\Windows\System32 Copy <drive>:\123\sppobjs.dll <drive>:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-s..y-spp-plugin-common_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_2136d8ac9cfcea8b
where <drive> is the letter you found above.
Wait for the command to complete.(make a note of the response!)once it has, typeEXITand the pick the option to reboot.post another MGADiag report
