OGA failed on my Office 2003 - Can I just install a new copy of Office 2007 over it?

Please can you help. My Office 2003 has failed its OGA so I have purchased a new copy of Office 2007. Do I have to unistall Office 2003 first to avoid any OGA issues or can I just install Office 2007 over it to keep all my preferences and settings intact?
