Yet another bug - whitepaper download problem... RRS feed

    There's some error in the  database which stores information about the whitepapers downloaded by us.. I downloaded few papers and when i went to rate it the next day, it said " You have to download the paper before rating it".. First i thought, i would have forgot to save the paper, but when i tried to save the paper i realised that the paper is already stored on my computer the previous day.. I have experienced this bug earlier on  few occassions (more than 10 times) , but now the issue has become nearly a daily basis for me... Am forced to download the same paper twice...

     

     

    There's another bug too, when you download the paper by right-clicking the link and selecting "Save target as" , it doesn't recognise that the paper has been downloaded....

    @Raghuram. I too have faced the same problem. The solution to this problem is that the system just remembers the last paper downloaded by you. You can only rate the last downloaded paper. Also right-clicking and saving the whitepaper doesnt work. The reason is that when you click on the link to download the paper, then and then only does the system store this info in the database, and then you are allowed to rate it.

    The reason you cant rate the same paper again is that a entry with the paper must be made in the description keeping a record of all the papers rated by a user.

     

    I may be wrong here, so if someone knows, please correct me if i am wrong.

    I dont face such a problem, i download about 10-20 whitepapers at a stretch, and then rate them when i get time after reviewing the whitepapers. I haven't faced such a bug.

    Richt clicking and downloading the white paper will not mark that download as downloaded in the server, you will have to left click on it, and when you do, you will see a small window open and then close immediately, thats the one that marks the whitepaper as downloaded. May be that could be causeing the problem.

    Yeah Raghu, me too facing the problem that you mentioned. everytime i download a paper and if at all i proceed to next paper without rating the paper i downloaded earlier, again i need to download the same paper for rating.

    for the last week i simply left rating papers !!
