  • Question

  • Have there been any changes to the forums software
in the last 12-24 hours that might affect the editor
    used for posting replies/messages?

I'm using Firefox 3.6.28 and had no problems previously
with posting. But today I can't post - *nothing* happens
when I click on Submit or Cancel to a reply in the VC++
    forums.

I noticed another subtle difference: Prior to today
whenever I would start a reply there would be a
slight delay of a few seconds after the inline
editor window opened. It appeared to be accessing
something remotely. Until it completed that activity
I could not paste anything into the editor window.
Now there's no delay - I can paste immediately
after the editor opens. But I can't submit it
or cancel it. The buttons on the editor are
    non-responsive.

Note that I have tried it with my firewall (Online Armor)
off, with Kaspersky AntiVirus turned off, and with
Firefox started in Safe Mode. None of these help -
I still can't submit or cancel a reply.

    Running under XP SP3.

  • Additional info: I just installed Firefox 11 and with
it I can post replies again in the VC++ forums. It
appears that the issue is when using Firefox 3.6.28.

  • Thanks a lot for the message Wayne. We'll take a look and see if we can repro it and also we'll check with the editor provider to see if there are some comparability issues.

This could have been a weird cache issue, where a ctrl F5 might have fixed it.

Not likely since I cleared the cache several times
    during testing.

  • SAME problem with Firefox since this morning in Turkish MSDN forums here:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/tr-TR/categories

Till this morning, everything was in correct order, but today, using Firefox (since version 3 and 4+...), clicking "Submit" button in reply window makes NOTHING.

IE8 works but Firefox fails, I used to post using Firefox now i can't due to this new problem. Hope to see it fixed.

I bet the problem has occured due to maintainence of rich text buttons available on reply window header, they changed and this irrelevant problem has started since. Thanks.

I ran into the same issue, and I thought I had a recent version of Firefox, but it turned out that I had 7.0.1. Applying the update sorted out the problem.
