Western Digital 2.0TB Green WD20-EADS-00S2B0 Firmware? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought two WD20-EADS 00S2B0 Western Digital Green 2.0TB hard drives from Amazon.com. I got a good deal ($85 each) compared with newegg ($99) where I usually buy them. They are newly wrapped, but have manufacture dates of Jan and Feb 2010 (It's April 2011 now). I will hold on to the receipts because one year old is lobbing a year off warranty otherwise.

That being said, drives seem to work fine. But the other WD20-EADS drives I have are 00R6B0. Is there a firmware update that you know of? Should I even worry? Anyone else? Thanks.

  • You don't need to worry about firmware upgrade if the drives work. You don't need to keep the receipts either. If there are problems, the warranty expiration date is determined by the hard drive serial number. I also have 4 WD 2TB in my server. Right now they are best bang for my bucks.

  • Thanks. I thought warranty expiration date was based on manufacture date or if you have the receipt, that date.
