Where to put freeglut.dll in Windows8 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to set up my Windows 8 machine to do OpenGL development with Visual Studio Express 2010. The advice I found from the text and several places on the internet suggest putting dlls into 1- C:\Windows\System32 or 2 - in the same directory as the generated exe. The second option works, but I'd prefer something like the first solution so that I don't have to copy the needed dlls into every sample directory that comes with the text. Is there some other common place that works since c:\Windows\System32 doesn't appear to work in Windows8? maybe System32 was the right place to put it in Windows XP and Windows 7?

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

I am afraid that the issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System and Visual Studio Editor.

I am moving your question to the moderator forum ("Where is the forum for..?"). The owner of the forum will direct you to a right forum.

Maybe you can consult on Windows 8 community: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8?tab=QnA
