  • Question

  • I cant seem to find where i would change users default view.

    1. Currently CRM web, opens up to the dashboard which is what i want, not the case with outlook extension, is there a way to change it for all users to be able to have the default view the dashboard.

    2. Also is it possible to set Defferent Dashboards to be the default view for different users, or groups? for instance i want the sales dashboard to be a more competative, see who is winning more opportuninities, compaired to service, i wnat them to see who is handling more Cases.

    As always thanks in advance,

  • Hi,

1 - It is possible to define which page is to be the default page when a user starts Outlook. This is an Outlook setting found in "File - Options - Advanced" and "Start Outlook in this Folder". This is a-per-user Outlook setting and cannot be centrally administrated from CRM.

2 - Each user can set a default dashboard by the "Set as default" button. Again, this is a personal setting and there is no out-of-the-box possibility to set this.

  • Hi,

There is no out of box functionality in CRM to set users settings, users themselves have to set the preference.

Check out the following url, Amreek developed a fantastic tool which allows to setup lot of users settings, however i am not sure about the Dashboard view, please contact him through his email and he might be able to add those functionality.

    http://mscrmshop.blogspot.com/2011/10/crm2011-user-settings-utility-20.html

Please read the following will give some idea and step by step to set up Dashboard.

The CRM Administrator(s) have the ability to set the system wide default Dashboard for all

users – the Dashboard all users see when visiting the Dashboards section. However in CRM

2011, users have the ability to override this default and select a different Dashboard as their

    personal default.

Launch your Dynamics CRM 2011 application. The first time you access a new Dynamics

CRM 2011 environment the default Dashboard will probably be Microsoft Dynamics CRM

    Overview dashboard.

    1. From the Workplace area in Dynamics CRM 2011, select the Dashboards link.

    2. The system default Dashboard will be displayed. It is probably the Microsoft

Dynamics CRM Overview dashboard. If not don’t worry, the procedure is the same.

    3. Select a different Dashboard from the available list. In the example below, the Sales

    Activity Dashboard has been selected.

    4. Since this is not currently the default Dashboard, there is a button available in the

CRM ribbon (toolbar) named Set as Default.

    5. Click the Set as Default button. The Set as Default button is only enabled when you

are looking at a Dashboard that is not currently the default.

    6. To test out the feature, click the Activities section link located just beneath the

Dashboards link in the Workplace area. Then click again on the Dashboards link and

you should be taken to your new default Dashboard.

Making Dashboards your CRM 2011 homepage

Another personalization setting found in Dynamics CRM 2011 is the ability to set where your

Homepage link will go to. In this recipe we will ensure that it lands on the Dashboards section

Launch the Dynamics CRM 2011 application. You do not need to be in any particular section

(Workplace, Sales, etc.) for this recipe.

    1. From the Dynamics CRM 2011 interface, find the File menu tab along the top of the

CRM application window. Click the Options menu item.

    2. A dialog called Set Personal Options will appear with approximately 8 tabs along the

    top. Select the General tab.

    3. At the top of this tab, you will see a picklist called Default Pane; make sure this is set

    to Workplace.

    4. For the section picklist called Default Tab, make sure this says Dashboards.

    5. Click the OK button at the bottom right of the Set Personal Options dialog. This will

cause your Dynamics CRM interface to refresh and apply any changes that have

been made. The Workplace and Dashboards area will be the default location for you

    Homepage link.
