Reinstall Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • A co-workers hard drive became corrupted and required re-installation. She is from Germany and did not bring her install media with her. We have a product key from the sticker, unfortunately the part of the sticker indicating the specific version of Vista Home has torn off. We reinstalled from a DVD from her office but it does not like the product key. So:

    1. How can we verify the version of Vista her product key is for.
    2. How do we get install media that will allow us to reinstall and use her valid product key?

The Key itself defines which edition of Vista is installed - so long as you type the Key properly during installation using a Retail disk there shouldn't be a problem.
