  • Question

  • Also in lower left corner Windows 7 build 7601 "This copy of Windows not genuine". OK I have been running this machine since July of 2014 with no problems. When I go to resolve the issue I downloaded a program to check the validity of Windows from the website called "legitcheck.hta"; when I run it there are multiple errors within the program script at various lines and it won't run. I suspect this is malware because of some if the text in the errors it gives (clickstreamTracker)? It ends with a Genuine Microsoft Software window that is blank. So I will paste the MGADiag here: Thanks in advance...Steve

  • Looking at the report, I suspect that this Product Key belongs to an MSDN account... - although it's possible that it may be for a Get Genuine Kit. Either way the Key appears to have been blocked

I would use Telephone activation and speak to an operator. Once you get one on the line, ask them to check your Product Key and tell you the Channel and why it has apparently been blocked. Explain your source to them and see what they say.

    telephone activation (operator calls)

    Click on the Start button

    in the Search box, type

    SLUI   4

    and hit the Enter key

follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

  • You have a Volume License version of Windows 7 Professional. This version is only sold to business enterprises and is non-transferrable to individuals.  How did you acquire this license?

  • I bought it supposedly from Microsoft. I have a receipt from Genuine Microsoft Software; the purchase was for "Window Genuine Advantage Kit" Win7 Professional, Part# FRC - 0073; $149.00 + tax; So I downloaded the software and bought the Genuine kit to activate it which it did and has worked fine until Saturday morning. Maybe I should call them?

  • You need to change the Windows 7 Pro product key to the one that came with the Window Genuine Advantage Kit.

Please see: How to update your product key

  • I put in the key that I bought; Start>right click computer>properties>change product key> it goes through the activation process and comes back "this copy of Windows is not valid">Go online to resolve; I get to download the legitcheck.hta. When I run it there is about 10 script errors before it quits.

then I did another MGADiag here:

  • Please try:

    Method 2: Command Prompt

    1. Click on start and type command (cmd) with run as administrator option or check how to open elevated command prompt

    2. Now type following command

“slmgr.vbs -ipk <insert your new product key here>”

    3. To activate windows after changing the key, run “slmgr.vbs -ato”

  • I ran the script with success & when I activated with "-ato" I got this:

"error: Windows is running within the non-genuine notification period. Run 'slui.exe' to go online and validate Windows." That just takes me to the Window Activation site that didn't work last time we tried. I restarted but can't get out of the not-genuine mode and the online destination I get does nothing to help me get this thing validated. Is there anything else we can do before I have to spend hours on the phone with Microsoft? Thanks for your help by the way!
