XP SP1 to SP2 upgrade followed by Validation Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just upgraded my Mesh PC, which came preinstalled with XP SP1 when I bought it, to SP2 to enable me to download Windows Media Player V11. All seemed to go well except now when I try to download anything from the MS Download Centre I am told that my copy of Windows is not valid.

I have run the diagnostic utility and this is the result.. any help anyone ?

  • Pbanksstrat,

Your report is showing your installation of XP as Not Activated.  The WGA system does not take effect until the instalation is activated.

    To activate:

    1.  Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Activate Windows.

    2.  If the above is not in the Menu system:  Start>Run, type oobe/msoobe.exe /a and click OK
