No Power Pack 2 OR 3 available on Windows Update RRS feed

  • Question

  • My Windows Home Server is only running Power Pack 1 and Service Pack 2. I have always had automatic updates turned on, but it never did update with Power Pack and now it has not updated to Power Pack 3 either. Neither Power Pack 2 or Power Pack 3 are available as an update when I run Windows update manually. What gives?? Why can't I get these updates? Why are they not showing up as an available update when I run Windows update on my WHS machine?

  • Hi Scott,
which version number does your Windows Home Server show (Settings/Resources)?
In the past we have seen similar incidents, if users had installed a prerelease or Beta version of a Power Pack, which has to be uninstalled manually on the server through Control Panel/Software, before normal WHS updates can be applied again. So the version number will help to indicate, if this is the problem in your case.

Other users had no working Internet Connection for the server, this was also happening relatively often.
And a 3rd group had a nearly full C: drive on the server, so that there was not enough free space to install updates.

    Best greetings from Germany

  • Please see this FAQ; it may apply in your case.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
