Windows 7 is not genuine error

Question
-
I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. Have had this for a few years and now suddenly I'm getting this error Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine. I also get a pop-up stating I may have been a victim of software counterfeiting. I bought this laptop new from Dell with Windows 7 pre-installed. I've tried a couple fixes I've read about online with no improvement. Appreciate any help. Below are the diagnostics requested in other similar threads. Thank you.

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

I got the same thing this evening when I booted my custom machine at home. I built this rig over 4 years ago and have been using one of my Win7 MSDN licenses. I've rebuilt the system several times over the years and consequently activated this copy of Windows numerous times but all of a sudden, wham it's not "genuine". WTF-ever.. It's another sneaky hidden windows update that knackered up this BS. When reviewing installed updated it does not show as a recent install, last updating showing on 12/8/15. However, I know I installed an updated last week and low and behold system restore shows updates that will be removed that were installed on 1/1/16. Sadly, I didn't click <g class="gr_ gr_12 gr-alert gr_gramm undefined Grammar only-del replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="12" id="12">into </g>the details to get the KB number but after a system restore which claims to have failed after restore all is back to normal. Windows no longer <g class="gr_ gr_319 gr-alert gr_gramm undefined Grammar multiReplace" data-gr-id="319" id="319">displays</g> pop-ups claiming not to be genuine and in the System Properties window, Windows shows as activated.
I would look at any recently installed updates and rip them out. I've started to wonder if this is in retribution for removal and hiding of KB 3035583, the annoying as all hell Win 10 upgrade BS.
