Change client machines static IP via OU or GPO RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We need to change the static IP of client machines from X to Y. Is it possible to do the same from OU or GPO other than going to every client machine and change it manually.

    For Example

Current IP is 172.10.10.x and gateway is 172.10.10.1. This I have to change with 192.168.1.x and gateway is 192.168.1.1

Also system will take new IP and its not repeated or I can define manually in script that, if computer name is "System-31" then the new IP should be 192.168.1.31 and gateway is 192.168.1.1

    Thanks

    Kejal

  • I highly recommend using DHCP as it will make all of this easier to maintain in the future.

To remotely change a systems IP you would use WMI.  This is very tricky as you will lose your connection to the remote system.

Look in the Gallery for scripts that can do this.
