Email auto-regarding when tracked in CRM RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've got a couple of CRM users who receive standardized email notices generated from our website, with standardized subject lines (e.g. "A new Emerging Leader has signed up" or "Materials order received"); when they choose to Track in CRM, the Regarding field auto-fills (incorrectly).  It appears that whichever record the very first of these standardized emails was regarded to always comes up in the Regarding field as soon as Track in CRM is selected.

I can't figure out why this is happening, or how to prevent it.  My best guess is that CRM thinks that since the sender & subject line are the same as a previously tracked/regarded email, the new email should be regarded to the same record.  Since this isn't the case (each "Materials order received" is for a different opportunity, each "A new Emerging Leader has signed up" is for a different contact), how can I prevent this auto-regarding from happening?

Out of the box currently doesn't support any change to the way the regarding behaves when "Track" is clicked.  Need to train to user to check the regarding and set to the proper value.

This would be a good suggestion for future enhancement.

  • Good to know that I wasn't missing anything.  I think our solution is to modify the standardized emails, to include unique info in the subject line.  Hopefully that will eliminate the problem.
