  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some clarification with an issue. According to the Sync Framework FAQ's :

Does Microsoft Sync Framework support background and scheduled synchronization?

Background and scheduled synchronization is not supported out-of-the-box.  However, a number of api’s such as the State and Notification API’s within Windows Mobile can be used within the provider to enable background and scheduled synchronization.

Does this mean that to start synchronization the code has to be behind a button or on a form load event or something of that sort. It can't simply run as a background service?

  • you'll have to trigger synchronization programmatically/manually. if you plan on writing it as a background service, you can have a timer event to kick in the sync or you can listen to some other event and fire the sync from there.

  • That seems kind of odd to me.
