Connection Problem to Client PCs after WHS System Rebuild... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I lost the WHS system disk and have rebuilt it all. All of the WHS 77 system updates are now installed and the system is rebooted. Everything seems to be there, including my backups. At least, they list when you select to see the backups on a client from the WHS console.

The problem is that in the WHS console, all of the cliends are grayed out, as are the WHS icons on the clients. I can connect from the client, but the WHS Icon is still grayed out.

Do I have to reinstall the connector software? Also, didn't the connector software change sometime last year. I seem to remember that I had to update all the client's connector software.

I need some help on how to get everybody 'talking' again.

Thanks, in advance, for the help...

Just run C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server\discovery.exe on each of your clients.  They should automatically re-connect after that.

  • Kariya21,

Thanks for the answer. In the mean time I reinstalled the connector software and resolved the problem on my 6 client PCs. Your solution sounds much better, but I needed to get it up and going.

    Thanks again for your support,
