Problems after automatic update.

Question

My OneCare did an automatic update last night, and now my computer won't boot properly. There are delays after I get the desktop. Several items won't appear in the task tray, and some programs give error messages while loading.

I trust that you mean that you've removed Windows Live OneCare, yes? Have you contacted support for help?

What are those two services
("Peer Name Resolution Procotol" and "Peer Networking Identity Manger")
used for?
Do I need them?

You don't need them unless you are using IPv6 for some advanced networking stuff. The odds are good that you aren't. This link will tell you way more than you want about PNRP - http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370970.aspx

Mine were not enabled. Meanwhile, I've uninstalled LiveUpdate until I have a working solution.
