Trying to install CRM 2011 on same server as SQL 2012 fails RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am unable to install CRM 2011 on the same server as SQL 2012. Apparently, it doesn't like the version of the C++ Runtime installed by SQL. However, unlike the same issue when installing the Outlook Client, simply removing the C++ Runtime (and every related file) does not solve the problem.

    Any ideas or similar issues?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • UPDATE:

I removed the C++ Runtime, etc. installed by SQL 2012 and CRM 2011 Server installed. However, Reporting Services no longer works so I had to Repair. But now, SRS Connector won't install because of the C++ Runtime SQL installed during the Repair.

THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND I'VE FOUND NO DOCUMENTATION FROM MICROSOFT REGARDING INSTALLATION OF CRM 2011 ALONGSIDE SQL 2012, EVEN THOUGH IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE "SUPPORTED".

  • I think "official" support comes along with the update roll up 9 (AKA Q2 2012 Service Update).

If I remember right when I installed CRM 2011 on SQL 2012 I think for the CRM server install I ended up uninstalling the x64 C++ runtime that got installed by SQL 2012 and then for the Reporting Extensions I had to uninstall a x86 version.

    Hope this helps.

  • Jason,

Thanks for the info but I've been unsuccessful so far. And BTW according to MS, running CRM 2011 with SQL 2012 is supposed to be supported now "Microsoft Dynamics CRM supports installing and running Dynamics CRM on Microsoft SQL Server 2012." See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2686619

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • You need to download the latest CRM 2011 installation media. Then re-install the reporting extension from there.
