New MS Office 2007 Home and Student Edition (bought at Best Buy) will not validate on new Dell Inspiron running Vista (Best Buy)

Question
-
Dear MicroSoft,
Over considerable misgivings, and based upon the sales talk I got from the salesman at Best Buy, about 10 days ago, I decided not to buy a iMac, and instead bought a new Dell Inspiron running Vista with 4gig of ram and a 500gig HD, an HP W2408h, and a retail copy of MS Office 2007 Home and Student Edition, along with Best Buy recommended Trend Micro anti-virus software and WebRoot spy sweeper.
I wish I'd paid double the price and bought a iMac.
Now, Best Buy persuaded me to pay $30.00 each to install Trend Micro anti-virus software and WebRoot before they gave me the computer. But, I figured that since I was buying a pre-installed and genuine copy of MicroSoft's latest and greatest operating system, and a genuine copy of MicroSoft's own Office 2007 software, I could do that myself instead of paying Best Buy another $50.00 to install THAT.
Silly me. Best Buy, in an astonishing lack of candor, failed to disclose to me that they wanted to charge me $50.00 extra just to install software which should install on its own, because massive numbers of genuine MS Office purchasers were finding it impossible to get their genuine MicroSoft software validated. The only -- too little and too late -- 'help' Best Buy would give me (despite the fact that I, stupidly, bought a 3 year 'help-me' warrant from Best Buy) is to tell me to telephone the 800 number on the MS Office 2007 box I bought. Of course, there is NO telephone number anywhere on that box, nor on this website so far as I can tell.
But, having no inclination to whine and play the victim without doing EVERYTHING I possibly could to fix the problem myself (even though I should not have to spend an instant fixing a problem that was known by MicroSoft to exist MONTHS before I bought the software), I, nevertheless did each and everything this forum suggest that I did, which resulted, among other things in my computer downloading some 250mb of "updates" for my BRAND NEW MS Office 2007 H&S Edition, a successful validation not only of Vista, Internet Explorer and my genuine MS Office 2007 H&S Edition, too.
Nevertheless, MS Office insists my copy of MS Office 2007 H&S Edition still needs its product key installed, and when I try to do that, it STILL tells me that the product key is not valid.
Forum Administrator, I am not a victim of anything except MicroSoft software that is not suitable for the purposes for which it was intended, represented, advertised and sold.
Can you please tell me how to get my Genuine MicroSoft 2007 Home and Student Edition product key to validate so that I can use it together with my Genuine (Validated) Vista operating system, on a brand new Dell Inspiron computer that I was told was built EXPRESSLY to run Vista?

CountryJoe,
Please follow the steps outlined below as it could either resolve your issue or, if need be, provide us with additional information to determine the cause of this issue.
1. Ensure you log onto the computer experiencing the issue with “Administrator” rights.
2. Next we would like to confirm that you are running the most current version of the Genuine Advantage control on your computer. Please follow the below link and choose the “Validate Office” option.
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine
If the above steps did not resolve your issue lets continue with the steps below.
If you could also please follow the steps outlined below, the diagnostics Web Site will attempt to resolve the validation errors you are experiencing with Office.
http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/diag/RunDiags.aspx?displayLang=en
Next follow the on-screen prompts to resolve the issue if any of the checks at the above site fail. If, after attempting to resolve the issue as per the instructions on the above site fails, please refer to the link below and run the MGA Diagnostics tool:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
You will be prompted to either “Run” or “Save” the tool. Choose to “Run” the tool and follow the on-screen prompts. You will receive an “Internet Explorer-Security Warning” dialog box for the “Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool”; you must choose to “Run” this tool when prompted.
Once you are presented with the Diagnostics tool choose “Continue” to run the diagnostic report. If the “RESOLVE” button is available after running the diagnostics, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool to attempt a repair.
1. After running the MGA Diagnostic tool, click on the “Windows” tab and then click on “Copy”.
2. Please return to this post and “Paste” the results here for additional review.

Dear LORI/MicroSoft and Carey Frisch/Helper,
Problem solved!
As it turns out, however, it was MY problem. Rather, MY eyesight. I thought the last letter of the key was an "8", instead of a "B". I must have looked at it 45 times, until, upon using Carey Frisch's help, I saw my mistake. I didn't actually use the things she said to do, but, for some reason I finally read the last letter correctly.
Thanks for your help, and your patience with my barely civil complaints.
Best regards.
Scott
P. S. Suggest to MS that they print their Product Keys BIGGER. A lot of customers are not 20 years old.

Dear MS/Lori,
As I said before, I had already done all of the on-line validations you asked for. And, I did them again per your instructions. Everything is properly validated according to MS's on-line diagnostics. Office 2007, when I try to run Word 2007, will still not accept my Product Key.
Hence, here is the diagnostics you asked for:

I have experienced a similar issue. I have been able to load microsoft office 2007 on my computer and use it just fine. However when I go to run a template from MS word it tells me templates are only available to users running genuine microsoft office. When I continue through the help menu's from there it brings up MS office professional edition 2003 not validated. I do have a validated copy of ms office 2007. I have gone through the validation process and help menu's. Re-registered the product key and still have the same issues pulling up templates from ms word.
I have read the above posts and will paste the diagnostics below. I have also checked out my ms office 2007 and according to the microsoft website it is a valid genuine version from the checks they tell you to look for on the cd and lables. Please help.
