I have Outlook on both an XP desktop and a Windows 7 desktop that are wirelessly network. I want to use Synctoy to sync them, but the user folder on the W7 computer where the Outlook.pst file is stored is invisible to the XP computer in Synctoy--even though the entire drive is fully shared. How do I make the user folder visible? The only visible folders are the default and public folders. Thanks.
Vista/WIN7 takes the system drive very seriously from a security standpoint. My clumsy workaround is to use an external drive which is shared by all the machines. Syncing them becomes a two step process. Sync each machine to the external drive, and you result in having the machines synced to each other. Synctoy does keep them straight.
You can move the storage location of the OUTLOOK.PST file. (Options, Mail Setup, Data Files.) If that is all you need to sync, try moving it to a public folder, or another drive on the WIN7 machine, if any, which you can see. I have NOT tried this, since I have many other folders to sync.
