Excluding existing disk from WHS RRS feed

  • Question

I have a server with 3 HDD at the moment. I would like to install WHS to manage backups, files and media in my local network, but keep the existing data on my third disk as a standalone NTFS drive. Is this in anyway possible?

I tried installing WHS on my machine but recieved a warning that data on ALL of my drives would be deleted.

    Kind regards

  • Yes, it's possible. Disconnect the third hard disk you want to use as a stand alone disk when installing WHS.
When you are finished installing, connect your third HD, and don't add it the system, and it will show as a normal harddisk
in your system with an assigned letter...
I used this method when transfering data from 14 harddisks into WHS.
