VIRUS ALERT PROBLEM VIA WINXDEFENDER RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi I'm Katie,

I am lost and concerned. I logged into my PC yesterday with no problems but as I was retrieving my e-mail a critical warning popped up via WinXDefender about malicious and harmful virurus such as Malware which will affect my PC. There were over 60 sites found.

I ran Windows Live oneCare and it came back that my PC was safe after scanning and updating. I  also subscribed to the virus protection.

But I keep getting the alert from WinXDefender regarding serious virus infection. What should I do?

Thanks for your help and assistance,

    Katie

  • Your PC is clearly infected by spyware, which is the winxdefender popup. If you have installed Windows Live OneCare from http://onecare.live.com and it has not removed this junk, please contact support.

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

If you have not installed OneCare, but ran the online free version, and you are in North America, you can call 866-727-2338 for help with virus and spyware infections. See http://www.microsoft.com/protect/support/default.mspx  for details.  For international information, see your local subsidiary Support site.

Winxdefender is a load of rubbish, as you say. :-)

See the post above yours on where to get help with removing the source of the popup.
