Previously validated genuine Office Prof 2007 OGA yesterday's update now showing non-genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Today my genuine copy of Office Professional 2007 returned non-genuine after installation of latest Genuine Advantage download.

Had previously validated this software and it had shown as genuine.  Full Version.  Microsoft curved box, books and all!

  • Hello Peris,

Thank you for visiting the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program forum. I understand that in most cases, customers have no idea their copies of MS Office Suites were not legitimately provided.   This is because some resellers try to cut costs by providing unauthorized copies, but still charge the customer for a copy of Windows and MS Office Suite.  This may not have happened in your case, but it does happen.  Also, we appreciate your concern that you’ve been using your copy of Windows for a long time. People often wonder, how is it that all of a sudden my copy turns out to be counterfeit.  This is because Microsoft is continually investigating piracy reports, and identifying Product Keys that are being used improperly.  It is possible for a Product Key to be used over a course of time, which may or may not be your case, but is then found to be a source of counterfeit software and therefore blocked from validating.

May I suggest a couple of links to follow this up?

  • Hi Stephen!

By the reports of the most users who has the problems with OGA they have installed OGA ver. 1.7.0105.35. But still, as yet I cannot find a source for downloading this version of the OGA!
I've tried it from freshly installed XP SP3 and Vista SP1 with Office 2K3/2K7 using Office Update and Microsoft Update - no new OGA, the only 1.6.28.0 was installed.
How they got it? What is the source?

    Cheers,

    Egor

  • Thanks for your response Stephen,

I contacted the vendor who advised he had several clients who had the same issue - it appears in his words he was "ripped off" by very good counterfeits and he has offered a full refund which while helpful leaves me without an operating version.  Guess it's back up files get a genuine "genuine" version and start again :(

  • Hey Stephen,

Thank you for the additional information. Have you filed a piracy report? If not I would recommend filing one. Please visit http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/. Locate the Reporting Piracy link on the upper most left hand corner and follow the guidance here. Stephen were you offered to purchase Office Genuine Advantage Kit upon validation failure? This will allow you to purchase Office so you can have an operating version. Please visit http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/OrderHelp.aspx?displaylang=en and http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/OGAKitInformation.aspx?displaylang=en .

Again thank you for providing us with the additional information. Oh curious can you please tell us where you originally purchased the non-genuine version of Office? Did you purchase this online and if so please let me know what the URL is.

    Take care

    Stephen
