product key doesn't work RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased my laptop a month ago and have been using Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 without entering the product key. I didn't think I had one. This was preinstalled software on my computer when it was purchased. The trial ended and after much aggravation and frustration I found the product key on the bottom of my laptop.  When I entered the product key it say's that it's incorrect.  How can I get this to work?  What's the problem?  I've checked and rechecked the key several times and know i've entered it correctly.

    Thank You

  • Hello glenn7777,

The product key on the Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) on the bottom of the laptop is for the Windows Operating System installed on the latop--it is not for Office.

Please have a look at this help article for further info about purchasing a product key to convert your Trial of Office into a perpetually licensed Office product.  http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101936151033.aspx
