  • Question

  • I built a server using an Elitegroup A740-GM-M and it is failing many "Connector Troubleshooter" tests but downloads updates fine.  Has anyone run into problems with using this MOBO for a home server?

    The server has:

        A740-GM-M Mobo
        AMD Sempron 3400+ processor
        1GB of RAM
        500 GB WD hard drive
Atheros Gigabit Ethernet (connected to a 10/100 network)

Connected to an Actiontec GT-701-WG broadband router/DSL modem running firmware QW05.5-3.60.3.0.7.6-GT701-WG

Running tests from a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop containing 1.25 GB RAM with ZoneAlarmPro active or inactive

    Tests failed are:

        [3.1] Resolve Server Name
        [4.1] Check TCP 1138 - times out
        [
    4.2] Check TCP 8912 - times out
        [
    4.3] Check TCP 55000 - times out
        {
    4.4] Check TCP 56000 - times out
        [
    4.6] Check Enrollld 55000-id.xml  - times out
        [4.7] Skips Enrollld 55000 by IP-id.xml
        [4.8] Check Enrollld 55000-hint.aspx  - times out
        [4.9] Skips Enrollld 55000 by IP-hint.aspx
        [4.10] Check Enrollld 55000-id.aspx  - times out
        [4.11] Skips Enrollld 55000 by IP-id.aspx
        [4.12] Check Enroll 56000-id.xml  - times out
        [4.12] Check Enrollld 56000-id.xml  - times out
        [5.2] Check client Version

The server has been restarted many times but the errors persist.

Are these errors caused by the hardware?  If not what?  Any insight you can provide will be greatly appreciated as I have tried everything I can think of over the last two days.

    Thanks

  • I found the cause of the problem and it had nothing to do with the hardware.

After giving the WHS a static IP address and adding that to the client hosts file everything worked fine.
