Backups w/ Multiple PCs RRS feed

  • Question

  • I searched the Forums and I think I found the answer to this, but I wanted to confirm...

I have three PCs on my OneCare "circle" - two of them behind a router at one location (my PC and my kids' PC) and another one at another location (my Mom's PC).

I know I can back up my PC and my kids' PC via an external USB-attached storage device hooked up to my PC.

I am fairly certain that I can't back up my Mom's PC in the same way (to the storage device on my PC).

Can I control and schedule my Mom's backups remotely (via OneCare) if I attach an external storage device to her PC?

  • You are correct - you cannot backup your Mom's PC, which is not on your local LAN to your Centralized backup device.

Since it is part of the Circle, you *can* configure the backup plan from a Hub PC for her PC to backup to a local (to her PC) destination. You cannot execute the backup manually from a hub PC.
