CRM 4 and SQL 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,
We are looking at upgrading towards the end of the year, our current installation has SBS 2003 (SQL 2000) and CRM 3.

SBS 2008 comes with SQL 2008, this is currently not supported by CRM 4, does any know if CRM 4 will support SQL 2008 in the future? If so when?

    Cheers
    Grant

  • I haven't tried the SBS version of CRM on SQL2008, though i fail to see why it wouldn't work if it works with CRM 4.0 proffessional version.

  • Hey,

SQL Server 2008 is supported in the future. See

  • Hey,
Although I did not try it, I believe SQL 2008 sever changed the process names of the msftesql and cisvc services and this resulted in errors when installing CRM 4.0.

However as Michael Sulz pointed out they are supporting it.

  • Hi

I'm running CRM4 on SQL2008. During install, I got the error that the sql indexing service wasn't found. There is a knowledgebase article for this that says that you just need to choose "Download updates" during install to fix it when running SQL2008. The reason is due to SQL2008 operates in an integrated mode withouth the process name.

    Now, it works for me.

However: Using Deployment Manager doesn't work. There isn't any option to choose "Download Updates". Does anyone know how to bypass or force the deployer (new organization) installer to use the updated code? I'm running the version for Service providers.
