Dynamics CRM 2011 Import address data for multiple addresses RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a custom CRM at our company and are importing our data into on prem Dynamics CRM 2011. We are using the import available under Data Management in 2011. For many of our accounts we have three or more addresses: Physicial, mailing, billing and shipping.  We have been unable how to figure out how to import into the More Addresses of the CRM.  It looks like in account and contact there are two address fields available in address 1 and address2.  We would appreciate any help on how to import in the More addresses of the CRM so we can import accounts with multiple addresses.  Thanks.

  • Hi, actually I do not recommend you to use as-is customeraddress entity:) Use a custom entity if you need to add or customize address fields...

Anyway, if you are ok with the standart fields of addresses, then you can use Data Import functionality, select SampleDataMap and select CRM entity as Addresses.. In you csv file, you have to set parent lookup field in a separate column which will be mapped to account's primary key (name) or contact's primary key (fullname)...

    regards.

  • Remember that there is no security on the addresses in CRM, so unless you are ok with everyone having access to the out of the box additional addresses, you would want to create your own custom entity. If you're ok with everyone having access to this OOB address entity, then you can import data to the addresses by downloading the address import template by navigating to settings>data management>templates for data import. All you have to do is add a column called 'parent' where you can enter the account or contact the address needs to be tied to. By default the system will use the account or contact name, but you can change this to look for any other field (I.E Account#) to identify the correct account (or contact). Use the import wizard to import the file and you're all set.
