CRM 2011 Online - Number of Days in Sales Stage Calculation

I am trying to calculate the number of days an opportunity has been in each Sales Stage. The Fetchxml data retrieved (audit entity) via BIDS does not seem to provide enough detail to parse and calculate this figure. Thanks in advance for any insight regarding how best to tackle this problem.

I think you would need to add additional custom fields to track what date the opportunity entered that stage - would be set automatically with a work flow. Normally these dates aren't captured.
