Windows Activation - Error Code 0x800700D RRS feed

  • Question

  • Below you will find my diagnostic report... This is a Windows 7 Pro license obtained through our MSDNAA repository.  I have tried to clear the store following the instructions to rename the token.dat file from another thread and still getting the same results.  Please advise..

    Thanks for your time.

  • Please first try recreating the Licensing Store.

    Recreate the Licensing Store
    1) Click Start button.
    2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
    3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
    4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
    5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    8) Type: net start sppsvc
    9) Type: slui.exe
    10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report

  • Thanks for replying Noel,

I have already tried that and still getting the same error.  It never asked me to re-enter my key but I choose to and re-entered it anyways.  Still will not work.

  • In that case...

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2230957

should help - run the Fixit from there, and reboot, then post back with a new MGADiag report.

  • I was surprised (if not shocked) to see the Volume MAK license in the last report - did you put it there? (if so, how?)

Please post a new MGADiag report so we can check there's nothing amiss.

  • sorry to bring out an old thread, but I really appreciate this response. It's kind of annoying when you spend lots of money on genuine product, and only to be told that the product is not genuine (probably due to corrupt activation status. At first I thought Microsoft is implementing the licencing style of Office 2013 (such a horror), and I can't reactivate my product anymore.

I don't know which cause it:

Norton 360 Uninstallation followed by Norton 360 Premier Installation (doubt it, since my other Windows installation is fine - though this is Win8 one, the one with problem was Win7 - I still prefer Win7 by miles. Win8 was fast, but is not for me. I put it because the netbook was too slow on Win7, and to take advantage of touchscreen)

    I recently changed 2 HDDs

    or the most likely:

    Windows Update.

  • Windows Updates only causes problems when there are pre-existing errors in the installation (99% of the time!).

If you post an MGADiag report in a new thread of your own, we may be able to fix it for you.

No - I do not work for Microsoft, or any of its contractors.
