Cant download System Centre 2012 R2 iso RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I am trying to download the full evaluation kit for System Centre 2012 R2 from TechNet.:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-system-center-2012-r2

I sign in and every time I attempt this (despite having registered) the website asks me to register.  I click the link:

    9600.16384.WINBLUE_RTM.130821-1623_X64FRE_SERVER_EVAL_EN-US-IRM_SSS_X64FREE_EN-US_DV5.ISO

Then I just get the spinning wheel timer for ages and eventually cannot display page.

I am studying for MCSE Private Cloud and really need to build a lab.

Anyone have any idea how to obtain this iso?

    Many thanks.

I have seen this behavior (spinning wheel for ages and then an error) several times at some Microsoft websites such as the MVA. Most times (but not always), I have been able to work around it by using a different browser (for instance, Chrome instead of IE, or a different version of IE at a different computer).

  • Hi Danny

More's the pity as the TechNet Support team haven't answered the query either!

The Solution turns out to be that one must use old technology to work with the TechNet site! The compatibility setting in IE 11 doesn't work when using Windows 10 Pro PCs or 2012 servers.

So to eventually get the files to download I fired up an old 32bit Windows 7 laptop and used Google Chrome and hey presto, file downloads!

Not one of the latest PCs in any compatibility mode would work from any of our locations - all our PCs are Windows 10 except for the steam driven ol' faithful.

Maybe one day MS will join up the technology for its own sites...

  • Hi,

This forum is not monitored by Microsoft Staff, all helpers here are community helper. We cannot help/solve issues with downloading ISO's through the Microsoft download pages. Maybe there was an issue that has been fixed by now.
