Need to block all other internet access from laptop RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have laptop running Windows 7 and XP. I need to be able to allow Streets & Trips to function normally while blocking all other internet access from these same laptops. Please let me know if this is possible, and if so, how.

    Thank you.

  • Why should Streets & Trips require internet access?

  • When you select "Help" -> "Streets and Trips on the Web", an IE browser appears which opens the page http://www.micorsoft.com/streets/en-us/default.aspx. We are trying to prevent this. We don't necessarily have to prevent IE from opening, but we do need to disable access to the internet.

  • So the problem is not a Streets & Trips problem at all - you just want to block all internet access from all browsers (and other clients).

That is a job for the Windows network settings or Windows firewall. Your users will not have admin access - otherwise they can always switch things back on or open ports up.

  • Streets and Trips will function fine without access to the internet although, of course, without Help->Streets and Trips on the Web.
