e-SATA port multiplier compatability ? RRS feed

  • Hi,

There's no reason why not. I use a couple of Sil3132 eSATA adapters to 5-way port multipliers with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

The only drawback, is to ensure whatever internal adapter you use to drive your multiplier is one that is noted to be port multiplier aware.

I see the Addonics site mentions a couple of host controllers, so if you follow their recommendation, you should have no problems with WHS.

  • I've successfully added an external 4 drive eSATA bay using a port multiplier to an HP EX470. Check out the step-by-step article here: http://www.homeserverhacks.com/2008/02/add-external-4-terabyte-drive-array-to.html
