validation tool won't install

Question
-
I just upgraded a workstation from XP home to XP pro using the XP Pro sp2 Upgrade CD. The computer came along with a small CPA office acquired by a larger firm with a domain.
The XP Pro installation processed without error but now I can't install Outlook 2003 with the small business server client software wizard and I can't install any windows updates. Specifically, it won't install the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)
Maybe related to the outlook error, maybe not but I thought I'd try to fix this first.
Here's the diag report from the wgadt.
Appreciate the help.

Unfortunately, your computer has a non-genuine, volume license copy of Microsoft Office XP installed:
Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2
Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage - 114 Blocked VLK 2You'll need to uninstall this non-genuine copy of Microsoft Office, then purchase a genuine version of Microsoft Office and install it.
Please note that your copy of Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 is 100% Genuine.

Greg Staples,
In addition to what Carey said, here is some information on how you can uninstall Microsoft Office XP Professional. The link here references Knowledge Base (KB) article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. This will allow you to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and provides detailed information on its use. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall all Microsoft Office programs 2003 and below (NOT 2007 OFFICE) on your computer, then reinstall Microsoft Office using the genuine MS Office installation CD and product key.
Restart your computer and try validating Office again at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine and clicking the “Validate Office” button. . If validation is still failing please follow the steps below:
1) Logon to the PC that is experiencing the notifications as a user with “ADMINISTRATOR” privileges.
2) Download the tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 click RUN.
3) When the tool loads, click “CONTINUE”.
4) Is the “RESOLVE” button available? If so, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool repair the issue.Lori MS

Thank you. That was the problem. Seems counterintuitive though. You'd think the genuine advantage tool would install then tell you that you have an unlicensed Microsoft product rather than just failing and making you dig through a cryptic log.
Wish we could find the techie that sold the pirated copy.
