Active Directory a Prerequisite ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I'm trying to install a Server 2013 on a virtual machine (Windows Server 2008 R2). As it is just a VM I don't want to run Active Directory on that server, rather just use a workgroup.

In the keys (msdn) there is a Workgroup activation key, I thought that meant  could use a Workgroup but on the installation it still seems to be asking me for an OU :-(

Is it possible to develop on a single server/laptop/workgroup?

    Thanks and regards

  • You will need a working AD to install CRM 2013 (or any other version), and the server you install it on must either be a DC (okay for dev and virtual environments) or member of a domain.
