Has anyone writen Exchange 70-663 based on the 70-662 book? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am studying 662 using the MS Press book and am wondering how much of 663 is covered in the same book. I have (with this forums help of course) transitioned from 2003 to 2010 our prod env. Set up NLB and CASArray, DAG etc etc (no edge or federated services however). I am pretty confident I will pass the 662 exam.

Has anyone done the 70-663 on the strenght of the 662 materials and practical experience? I would get the 663 book but.. uhm.. there isnt one.

    Thanks

    Drew

  • If you do a search of these forums, you'd find that some have passed the PRO exam using the book.  There are also MS Learning videos available.

Additionally, O'Reilly is set to release a MS Press study guide this August - http://oreilly.com/catalog/0790145321626/

  • If you like books, I would get the Unleashed or In/Out book.

The idea is to learn the concepts of designing and deploying which these books will do.  Doesn't have to have "70-663" on the cover to be a good reference.

  • Hi Sam,

Congratulations for passing the 70-662 exam! Great work!

I have written and passed the 70-662 and the 70-663 exams. While my experience on the product helped me a lot to answer the thought provoking questions, I did read a lot of stuff from the Exchange 2010 Technet Library and the Exchange Team blog at msexchangeteam.com

If possible attend a MOC 10233A course for the Designing paper. I really like the content of this course as it is geared towards a Consultant's day to day work.

Yes, I am a MCT so I am being a partial towards MOC, but the recent quality of the courseware coming out of the MSL factory is simply superb. They prep you not only for the exams but for the real world.

I would also recommend reading the "Exchange 2010 Best Practices" book by Microsoft Press. Infact, if you work with Exchange Servers day in and day out, you should have a copy of "Exchange 2010 Pocket Consultant" and the "Exchange 2010 Best Practices" book handy. I carry one to to my work daily.

Also, If you are not a voracious reader, try using the TrainSignal Course on the Exam 70-663 by J Peter Bruzzesse. I used their 70-662 course for my certification preparation and trust me, he is an amazing instructor.

All the best for your exams!

    Cheers,

    Manoj

  • Thanks all.

Passsed the 70-662 yesterday but just barely. The MS Press book is not enough even if do the exercises. The only thing that saved me were the topology and transport questions since I know the material from actual experience.  Soooo... I havent decided about writing Pro yet.

  • Hi Sam,

How's it going? I am just wondering how many questions  and maximum time allowance for this exam if possible.

    Thanks,

    Tim

  • Wrote and Passed 663. used CBT nuggets and my previous experience.

I DONT think just using the book would be enough to pass 663. Because I had done the transition from 2003 to 2010 last year that helped me the most.
