This copy of Windows is not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I bought my laptop last July with Windows Vista and the certificate for a free upgrade to Windows 7. In december I order Windows 7, received it and installed it in January. So far I didn't have any issue until today when I've got the message:

    Windows 7

    Build 7600

This copy of Windows is not genuine

Of course my copy should be fine, I already try to re-installed it again even though the problem still persist. I have confirmation email and the original disc I received from BUHL on behalf of Fujitsu. What should I do then?

    Thanks

Look at the COA sticker on the side, bottom or in the battery compartment of your computer and see what version is represented on that sticker, that is the version that is supposed to be on your computer. If the sticker says windows 7 home premium simply change the key to the key on the sticker, type SLUI 4 in the search box of the start menu, hit enter, select country or region, dial the number provided but do not enter any menu options (this will force a person to answer), activate and you are done.

If however the sticker does not match the version installed then you will need to install the version represented there. If you paid for windows 7 or paid someone to install it you should insist on a refund or a working, valid license complete with media, key and COA.
