Forward a range of ports through Server Firewall 2003? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was wondering if it's possible through some tweak like finding a settings file to manually add exceptions in a way that would be faster than the 1 by 1 the GUI forces a person to do.

    Is there some settings file where I can just change the entries, for instance:

    [Rule 5] FTP Server Rule 10

    :: Port 2200 TCP

    [/rule5]

    Or something like that?

  • There is no text file that contains the Windows Firewall rules, no.

    You can use the netsh utility with the firewall context (netsh firewall), to configure the firewall on your server from the command line. I recommend you proceed with extreme caution, if at all; you can paint yourself into an irrecoverable corner this way.

    I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
