Dear all,
i have SBS 2003 R2 running and I would like to install MS CRM 4.0 on my SBS server. I have an MS-Action Pack subscription and it comes with it.
For me I just start my consulting company 8 month ago and I am acting in custom developppement, so I am not selling product but dev solution around product. So I guess what ever you do in your buisness when you start your company you want to track potential customer and follow opportunities.
For me I am not at all a marketting guys, I am more from technical side and as I am working as a frelance, I need a tool wich helps me in getting customers and contact for potential contract. I have been advise to use a CRm tool for that. This is the reason I want to install it.
can I install without an trouble SQL server 2008 on top of SBS 2003 without any trouble ,
does any existing database will be affected ?
thanks for help
regards
serge

Hi,
There are situations when ReportServer virtual directory is not visible in IIS console. The best way would be to check the services for "SQL SERVER Reporting Services".
In regard to the server update - you must follow appropriate guides to upgrade SBS 2003. This page contains a lot of information regarding the migration: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/evaluation/faq/setup.mspx. Once you have SQL Server 2005 or 2008, you may consider installing CRM 4.0.
Best regards,

Hi Serge,
You don't need to install SQL Server 2008 on your SBS 2003 R2 machine - it contains SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition. You may still install Dynamics CRM 4.0 on SBS 2003 R2, provided that you apply the fix available here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941450. If you do not install the fix, you will most probably get an error like "Setup requires that cumulative update package 2 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 be installed on this computer. This update is required when you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition."
I hope that helps,
Kuba

I have try to install CRM 4.0 on my SBS 2003 but at a certain steps is looking for an SQL Agent and a Report Server.
It seems that reporting Services is not installed and CRM 4 requires it.
I have install teh SQL expres Environement studio to browse by datbase and on teh SQLs erver I could find SQL Agent, so I guess I need to install it too.
That is teh reaon why I was planing to re install SQL server 2008 amd select require components.
Or is tehre a way to install Reporting Service and SQL Agent on the existing SBS SQL server ?
thanks for help

Hi Serge,
If you are using SBS 2003 R2 Premium, then you should have Reporting Services installed (this was new in SBS 2003 R2!). CHeck the services (serives.msc) running on the machine to be sure whether they are disabled or turned off.

At least I could not see any ReportServer and Report Alias in IIS configuration....
So I guess reporting services is not there..
If I do not have SBS R2, can I freely update my server without loosing any currnt config, sich as my emails ?
