GenuineCheck Problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is not a forum problem as such - but it's an MS problem that is causing grief is every forum I frequent (except this one up until now<g>)

The MS Download Center is pushing the GenuineCheck validation exe at more and more people, rather than allowing ActiveX validation like it's supposed to.

    This promptly fails with

I've responded to hundreds of posts since this first started happening in July - and the problem got suddenly worse when the center was Metro-ised (for want of a better term)

So far, the only response from MS has been to mark my workarounds as answers - and nothing has been fixed.

The few time MS Forum mods have responded in the forums, the posts have either been deleted, (presumably in embarassment), or are totally irrelevant.

I've finally encountered the problem (up until this week every time I've used IE9 32-bit, ActiveX validation has proceeded normally - it's now also failing) both in my live machine, and in clean installs in VM's

Can someone (Ed??) PLEASE get some action on this?? - or is something in the pipeline for when Win8 launches next week?

To say that I am frustrated would be putting it mildly - and there are a LOT of disgruntled users out there!

If MS is to avoid yet another EU lawsuit, something needs to be done NOW, rather than next week.
