Installing SSL in WHS 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed WHS 2011 on an HP MSS EX490 amazingly successfully following Sean Daniel's article http://sbs.seandaniel.com/2011/04/how-to-install-windows-home-server-2011.html.

I pursued the wizards within WHS2011 to set up Remote Web Access.  I purchased a domain name from www.Godaddy.com

I have to say that to get to this point was a nightmare experience - I'm no fan of Godaddy - however, I can access my web site remotely.  But it comes up with "There is a problem with this websites's security certificate etc, etc."

Ihave no knowledge or understanding of SSLs, but I eventually decided/discoverd that I needed to purchase an SSL Certificate. I did that.  Nightmares revisited!

However, I managed to download the certificates - two of them, and get them into my server.  The were issued for IIS(7).  I followed the install instructions http://community.godaddy.com/help/4801/generating-a-csr-and-installing-an-ssl-certificate-in-microsoft-iis-7 to the letter and successfully installed the intermediate certificate.

The next part of the SSL install "completes the previously created certificate request".  See instructions (18) to (23) in the above link.  I selest the appropiate-file.crt, give it a "friendly name" as required in the wizard, click OK and I get this message -

    "Complete Certificate Request

There was an error whike performing this operation.

Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))"

I'm lost!  Can someone please help me address this error.  Thank you in anticipation.
