Syncing even when signed out of Live Mesh?

Question
-
Last night I signed out of Live Mesh on my computer that was receiving IMs, which are logged to files in a synchronized folder, because I wanted to free up bandwidth to watch streaming HD video. However, after having been signed out of Live Mesh for quite some time on the computer that receives IMs, I noticed that as someone began to send me IMs, my HTPC's Live Mesh suddenly started actively downloading updated files. I can only conclude that Live Mesh was syncing out to Live Desktop even though I was signed out on that computer. Shouldn't signing out cause it to stop syncing at all?Monday, November 3, 2008 6:50 PM

Hi,
Thank you for the clarification. Am I right to think that you signed out of Live Mesh, but did not log off your Windows user account? If that's the case, then what you're seeing is by design (though admittedly somewhat counterintuitive). Customer feedback on things like this is what helps to bring about change. Perhaps you could add the way you'd like for sign out to function to our Suggestions sticky?
Thanks,

Hi,
I'm not quite sure I understand the scenario. If you were signed out of the computer, how did you see it downloading (syncing) files? Would you mind describing the scenario to me a bit more? You are correct that being signed out of your Windows user account should stop Live Mesh from syncing on that computer, so I want to figure out what exactly was going on.
Thanks,

I have two computers, one of which is signed out. Files are changed on the signed-out computer. A bit later, the signed-in computer receives update notices in the news feed for the files changed on the signed-out computer. The Live Mesh notification icon will also pulse on the signed-in computer, indicating activity, and the file in question will be updated on the signed-in computer to match the one on the signed-out computer.
I hope that's more clear.
I should note that these computers are connected to my home network at the times that I observed this, in case that is important. I have reproduced this.
"Work Offline" behaves the same as "Signed Out" in this regard.Wednesday, November 5, 2008 12:04 AM -
