MS Outlook 2007 validation says "this is not a genuine copy" with Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Lenovo IdeaPad and bought it at Fry's about 13 months ago and it came with MS Office 2007 (and Outlook) and all of a sudden when I open Outlook I get a prompt telling me "this copy is not genuine" but when I go to HELP > Activate Product > it tells me it is already activated. I can still open, use, close Outlook but when I open an email I have to click on a tab > message and I keep getting the "not genuine" prompt. Why is this?

I have run the Outlook diagnostics and have navigated the help and tools pull down menus. Any suggestions? Ideas?

  • Hello RobbieRealtor,

Office installations that can't "make up their minds" whether they are activated or not quite often have damaged license files.

Please work thru the Methods in this MS KB article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919895/

Most people tell us that Method 3 does the trick.

Post back to let us know if it worked for you :-)
