Physical OneCare discs? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a subscription to OneCare. Is there a way I can get myself a set of the actual install discs? I'd like to have them on hand for the next time I have to reformat.

  • One Care uses a live installer. The retail One Care CDs only connect to the One Care download page to begin the installation. To reinstall One Care go to  - http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/members/default.htm sign in using the Live ID associated with your One Care subscription, then use the link under " Add a PC to your subscription or reinstall Windows Live One Care".

  • I see. Is there a way to download the installer, then? OneCare is the type of thing I'd like to install before I connect to the internet.

  • Although this might change going forward, right now the web installer is the only option. I agree with your preference for installing virus and firewall protection before connecting to the internet but if it is any consolation I have installed One Care close to 100 times over two years without incident.
