Configuration Wizard for Outlook plug-in Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    The following is our setup:
We have MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 Rollup Update 3. The following is the server setup details:

    Server Name: srv-us-crm
    Internal IP: 172.16.0.22
    Domain: mycompany.local
Internal IP is natted to public IP, is allowed https, http access and can be pinged from outside network.
The public URL configured in DNS is: crm.mycompany.com
    IFD Setup:
    Authetication Strategy: IFD+On Premise
    Anonymous: ON, Key Encryption: ON
IFD Internal Network Address and Subnet Mask: Internal Network Range given
IFD Domain Scheme: HTTPS, IFD App Root Domain:crm.mycompany.com, IFD SDK Root Domain:crm.mycompany.com
AD Domain Scheme: HTTP, AD App Root Domain:srv-us-crm AD, SDK Root Domain:srv-us-crm
Added https://crm.mycompany.com to Trusted Sites list on my browser properties.
We are able to access the CRM site by accessing https://crm.mycompany.com. Everything works perfectly fine with web access.

Now, i am planning to setup MS Dynamics CRM Plug-in for Outlook:
Added my domain login/password for server crm.mycompany.com from control panel|User Accounts| Advanced | Manage Passwords.

When i run Configuration Wizard to setup Outlook plug-in, i Select "An Online Service Provider" and Web Address as https://crm.mycompany.com and then the wizard shows me my organizations in CRM, i select one of the organizations and then click next. I get the following error:
"The configuration wizard cannot connect to the Microsoft CRM server. This might indicate that the server is down"

When i run Configuration Wizard to setup Outlook plug-in, i Select "My Company" and Internal Address as http://srv-us-crm.mycompany.local, External Address as https://crm.mycompany.com. On clicking next the wizard shows me my organizations in CRM to choose from, i select one of the organizations and then click next. I get the following error:
"The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." Then, pressing OK also gives the 'Mandatory
Updates could not be applied' message.

I have read most of the forums online relating to this error and tried all the suggestions, but this doesnt seem to resolve the issue. I tried on multiple computers but the same issue.

    Am i missing something here?

    Thanks & Regards
    Samad

  • Thank you very much.

I was able to resolve this issue. I found that this could be due to certificate issues. I changed the name of the site to https://orgname.mycompany.com and it started working. Since i had certificate imported as *.mycompany.com and when i was using crm.mycompany.com it was redirecting to orgname.crm.mycompany.com for which i dont have certificate.

  • Hi Samad,

delete the Username and Password in the User Account and try to connect to the crm with the configuration wizard. The wizard ask you for the username and the password. At this time, you can store the username and password. then it should work

  • Hi Michael,

I removed the username/password but surprising, the configuration wizard does not ask me for the username/password. It simply goes to next screen showing me the list of organizations to choose from. I still get the same error once i click next after selecting organization.
